Wordmarks as outlines, at the lockup's size

Oct 12, 2026

Four names set in Jost 500 as SVG paths, so they look the same on a machine without the font, and a license line that names them.

The brand repository had the mark, the lockup and the animations. It now has wordmarks for Mru, Mru Aerospace, Mru Field and Mru Flight, on light and on dark, as SVG and PNG, sixteen files. A script reads the font with opentype.js and asks it for the path of each string, trimmed to the glyph bounding box. The size is the lockup’s: the mark is 43 px and the word 24 px, so the type size is 24 times 100 over 43, and a wordmark alone is the lockup without its mark. Every letter is an outline, so a page with no Jost shows the same shape. The PNGs are rsvg at 240 px tall.

The headings use Futura medium. Jost 500 is the open fallback, and ships in the repository under the OFL. The license names the wordmarks beside the mark, the lockup and the animations as artwork that is not open source, with the font and the scripts as the two exceptions. The brand page shows the four at the display size and offers eight downloads, with one rule: do not set Mru or the wordmarks in another typeface.

The script is Apache. The shapes it draws are not.
